This nonfiction informational book is a great tool to introduce animals to children and what they do. As not all children have experienced or seen some of these animal, the illustrations are realistic to help them picture them. These illustrations help children remember this information and use it in the future when the see these animals again.

Personal Comment:
I believe The National Geographic Kids series is great for younger children as it informs and with the use of bring realistic illustrations and real photographs. By using a little bit from color realistic, and information and keeping it short they ensure the children will be interested in it. I have personally read this book to my students and they love it, every time we finish the book they are eager to learn more. The new information learned is the topic of the week, and they make sure that everyone knows about it.
